Poetic problem

The rush of thoughts
Hits with the force of expectation.
Quick, a pen.

The words of greats engulf me,
And I can find no great words.

The brick walls are liberating,
So is the cold, heavy air.

The street is quiet
With anticipation of my footsteps.

I shall wake it.

The 11th Plague: Soggy Boxes

Twenty-three days after the movers picked up our stuff from Santa Monica and nine days after their “at the latest” delivery date, the van arrived.

Not only were the boxes a bit beaten up (I would assume nothing less from a cross-country move that changed hands a few times and took a month), many of them were soaking wet. Fortunately, mom wrapped and packed things so well that we only lost a pint glass and a few books. If Curtis and I had packed on our own, I have no doubt the damage would have been much worse.

This is the box in which Curtis’ computer was packed. The tower was bashed in and warped, but Curtis managed to rebuild and salvage it, and it appears to be working fine.

See other photos from before and during the move-in here.

Walk:Eat ratio

How much do I have to walk to offset eating high-calorie food every few hours?

Let’s compare my food intake with my walking distance today:

Food:
1 everything bagel with cream cheese
1 small vanilla yogurt/granola/fruit parfait
2 slices of bread with garlic cream cheese and french whipped butter
1 small mixed greens salad
1 mushroom risotto
1 glass red wine
1 square of vanilla bread pudding
1 small skim latte
1 bite of Curtis’ poppy bagel
1/2 slice of chocolate cheesecake

Walking:
3.32 miles Chelsea-Midtown zigzag
3.57 miles Park Slope loop
Four subway staircases

The food intake for the day is typical, the walking is not. How long before I can’t fit into any of my clothes? Predictions welcome.
